Today at 6.00pm GMT (1.00pm EST) I’m releasing a brand new plugin called Alert Box Ads. It’s very cool, easy to use and comes with full Developer (Client/Flipper) rights.

You know those little “alerts” you get that sometimes pop up out of your system tray? Or you’ll see a box appear bottom right on a web site as you scroll down the page?

You can’t do anything but look at them can you? In other words they work, and they work really well. 😉

And this is what the Alert Box Ads plugin will allow you to do. Here’s a short video showing how it works:-

Let’s take a look at the features list.

  • Unlimited alert ads.
  • You can set a global alert ad for every page and post.
  • You can set ads for the Home and Archive “special” pages.
  • You can set an individual alert ad for a page or post.
  • You can disable alert ads on individual pages and posts.
  • Alerts can include HTML and links.
  • Alert box ads can be set to redirect to a URL when clicked.
  • 3 methods of displaying alerts:-
    – Immediately
    – After a set number of seconds
    – When the visitor scrolls down.
  • Create your alert ads using the standard TinyMCE editor – easy.
  • 5 different designs of alert ads included, more on the way.

I hope you agree that it has a really cool and well thought out feature set.

The 48 hour sale for Alert Box Ads will start today 11th March at 6.00pm GMT (1.00pm EST) and will cost just $10 during that period, so don’t miss out on the low price while it’s available.

2 for 1 Redirection Plugins

Today at 6.00pm GMT (1.00pm EST) I’m kicking off a 48 hour sale for two cracking little plugins.

Yes it’s a “twofer” (2 for 1) sale starting at just $10.

Special Offer Now LIVE!

These plugins are so good that in fact I’m using them to automatically manage the start and end of this sale, that’s where my faith is in them.

So what do they do?

Between them they manage the run up to, start, and the end of sales promotions or any special events you might wish to run. And once set up they do it all automatically for you so you don’t have to worry about manually making your event live.

The first plugin is called Countdown Redirect and displays a countdown timer on your blog which you can fully style to suit your site using HTML. You can add a shortcode either to a page or post to display the timer and your message.

When the countdown reaches zero then the plugin automatically refreshes the page and then redirects the visitor to the target page of your special event.

But better than that…

There’s also a separate short code you can add to a sidebar – this one doesn’t trigger a redirect, it’s for info only. But you do get the option to show before and after HTML as well as the timer itself.

That means you can do clever stuff like show the timer, and then when it counts down you can show some other HTML such as a message and link to the page you want people to go to if they’re on the front of your blog.

And you can even use both widgets together. In fact that’s exactly what I’ve set up for this sale today.

The second plugin is called Post UnPublisher and it does what you would expect it to do given the name.

You know how WordPress will allow you to set a date and time for a post or page to be published? But what it won’t do is allow you to set a date and time to *unpublish* them? What a crazy omission by the WP development team.

Now there have been plenty of instances where I’ve had to manually remove or amend pages when the offer I was running there expired – it’s a pain.  And there have also been other circumstances where I’ve wanted to redirect visitors to another page explaining that the offer is closed rather than just see a 404 page.

So I had Post UnPublisher created that will do either of those automatically when the sale or event is over. (It works with pages too.)

You can choose a date and time to unpublish your post or page, and optionally a URL to redirect visitors to. If you don’t specify a URL, then the plugin will just show the standard WordPress 404 page.

Brilliant! (If you don’t mind me saying so.) And exceptionally useful too.

It makes an ideal complement to 60 Second Sales Pages and the Page Template Plugin and gives you an extra level of control.

The 2-for-1 sale starts at 6.00pm GMT (1.00pm EST) and will last until the early hours of Friday morning.

Both plugins are just $10 for the pair and they will only be sold individually after the sale is over.

If you’re on this page when the sale starts then you’ll see the countdown timers hit zero and you’ll get redirected to the sales page. Pretty cool eh?

Just make sure you’re here right before 6.00pm GMT and you’ll see what happens when it kicks off.  😉

Freebie Christmas Plugin

Just a short note to wish you a Merry Christmas if you celebrate it – I know not everyone does – and to give you a download link to a freebie plugin.

This is actually my own PG branded version of the PLR plugin I released as part of October’s PLAhh.com membership (re-opening in January).

It allows you to create GENUINE One Time Offers on your WordPress blogs.

Let me explain.

Many people misunderstand the power of a One Time Offer (OTO), and over time it’s become an interchangeable word with upsell. But a genuine OTO is very different from an upsell.

With an upsell you can usually bookmark it and go back to the upsell page and take it later. But with a genuine OTO you get ONE chance to take the offer and then it’s gone forever.

This makes a genuine offer well worth taking and vendors that understand the principle also understand the power it wields:-

“Get it now or it’s gone forever.”

Big Ed 48 Hour Sale

Offer Closed

***

Even though I’ve sold more than 700 almost 1,000 copies of Big Ed, I still get stopped dead in my tracks when someone asks me how to do something in WordPress that I know Big Ed will do for them.

If you don’t yet have it and you’re wondering what Big Ed does, it adds additional features to the built in TinyMCE editor that comes with WordPress.  It expands the abilities of the default editor, and adds some extra features that we’re very confident you’ll find incredibly useful.

And while that might sound innocent enough, wait until you see what it can do.

By default, the buttons you get with the WordPress editor look like this:-

And you can also then press the “Kitchen Sink” button to get some additional toolbar buttons:-

So that your toolbar would then look like this with the other buttons enabled:-

Now what happens when you install and activate Big Ed?

Well… You get to see this:-

You might have seen something like this before, and there are other plugins that do a similar thing, but we went a step further and added some very special formatting tools.

For instance, now you can add three new styles to your posts in the form of Johnson boxes, graphical bullets, and graphical separators.

First, here’s an example of one of the Johnson box styles you can add. We’ve included a selection in a mix of styles and widths, making 9 altogether. This isn’t a screenshot you’re looking at, this is the plugin in action and the text in this box is selectable – try it.

Next, how about some separators? There are 10 in 3 different widths making 30 altogether. Here are some examples…

First, Green Shade:-

separator

Next, Dashed Blue:-

separator

And now Dotted Red:-

separator

Finally, how about some graphical bullets? There are 6 different bullet styles you can use.

  • Bullet.
  • Bullet.
  • Bullet.

And here’s another example of bullets.

  • Bullet.
  • Bullet.
  • Bullet.

And some more.

  • Bullet.
  • Bullet.
  • Bullet.

As I’m on good terms with my long term customers I tend to forget that new customers might not have Big Ed yet, and I’ve been reminded of that recently by emails from people who didn’t know they needed it, but it directly solves a problem they have.

Okay.

I’ve decided to do two things.

First, run a 48 hour sale for Big Ed, and then secondly plan in some updates for v2 – I’ve got some good ideas of where to go with the changes (e.g. lots more built in graphics), but I’m always open to suggestions. Hint-hint.  🙄

(If you already have Big Ed then it’s currently at v1.1.2 and you can pick up the latest version from your personal download page.)

If you don’t yet have Big Ed, this is just for you.

Starting today at 6.00pm GMT I’m running a THIRTY COPIES ONLY sale for Big Ed at just $10.

This is the lowest price it will ever be as the regular price for the current version of Big Ed is $27, and when I release v2 I’ll put it up to $47. I will upgrade all owners of Big Ed to v2 at no charge.

For 48 hours or until all 20 copies are sold you can make a huge saving by snagging yours at just $10. It’s a bargain.

But only if you’re one of the few. When all copies are sold the sale will close so if you don’t already have it you need to be a bit sharpish as I expect them to go fairly quickly.

Just a word of warning though.

I typically don’t send out reminders once a sale has started (sometimes I do) and I shake my head when someone writes to me after the fact saying “please can I have it at the sale price?”

The answer is always no, full price or wait until I run another sale on it in 6-12 months time.

Don’t be that person. If you don’t have Big Ed, now’s your chance.

The 30 copies sale will go live at 6.00pm GMT (1.00pm EST) today, Wednesday 19th.

Share Your Purchase Plugin

Offer Closed

***

We’ve been busy creating a new plugin based on something Amazon does after you’ve made a purchase. I only noticed this about 3 weeks ago when buying a new Kindle Fire HD (I love it).

Amazon are damn clever at getting customers to do things like buy additional items and make reviews, and they employ some really smart marketing people and programmers to come with these ideas.

Right after you’ve completed your order they show you a little box where you can (in their words) “Share your purchase” by either Facebook, Twitter or email.

My wife and I saw it and we both said “THAT is BRILLIANT!” 😉

I shared my purchase on Facebook and got a comment from a friend about it very quickly. Marketing job for Amazon done and it didn’t cost them a penny. This works really well and you’re going to start seeing it on my own download pages very soon.

Just think about it.

Your customer is hot and pleased with their purchase, and now they want to show off at how they’ve got something new and very cool. While they’re feeling like that you give them the perfect channel to do it.

So that’s what we’ve been working on – a WP version of that “Share” box – and we’ve gone a little bit further.

With our new plugin you can optionally add tabs for Facebook, Twitter, G+, Pinterest and email. And it comes with a nice selection of colour schemes too.

It’s still being finalised and then there’s some test to do, but I think I’ll have it out by this time next week if not before.

You can leave a comment or ask questions below. 😉
