Bits And Bobs On A Quiet Sunday Afternoon

On Tuesday at 3.00pm GMT (10.00am EST), I’ll be running a nickel sale for my new product, The Instant Survey Script.

If you want to bypass that nickel sale, then there’s good news if you take advantage of Adrian Ling’s summer sale. If you buy the 5 scripts I mentioned in yesterday’s post using my link, and then raise a ticket on the support desk, I’ll give you The Instant Survey Script for free tomorrow, a full day ahead of everybody else.

Of course if you’re one of the people who’ve already bought via my link, you qualify too, just raise a support ticket in the Instant Survey Script department of the help desk.

This offer expires at 3.00pm GMT Monday.

I’ve just got back from a nice little run out to Henley In Arden (on the way to Stratford) with the family and we went for an ice cream where we normally do. Inside the shop all I wanted was a single cone, and I asked for a scoop of banana fudge and a scoop of caramel instead of two scoops of one flavour. I’ve been served that in the past when I asked for it.

“That’s not allowed” came the answer from a 17 year old behind the counter. Not the girl who was serving us I have to add.

My wife tried to argue with her, but I said “Leave her alone, if it’s ‘not allowed’, there’s nothing she can do about it. She’s just an employee, and she’s ‘not allowed’ to make decisions.”

Cruel I know, and to make it worse I had a big grin on my face, but I have to say I got an immense feeling of satisfaction from saying it.

Oh well, one step closer to being a cranky old git I suppose. Victor Meldrew move over.

I’m going to start releasing some free PC (Windows) tools shortly for those people on my blog notify list. They’ll be in password protected posts and you’ll get the passwords (once) in the notify email I send out. After that, they’ll be either $5 or $10. I think that’s a fair price.

I’m also going to start releasing my “Install A Blog” videos for free, one or two per day. After working through all of them, you’ll be able to install your own WordPress blog if you don’t already know how to do it, and I’ll also cover which WordPress plugins I use and why.

I’ll only be making them available until the entire set is complete. Then they’ll join my increasing line up of products, probably for $27.

If you don’t have a blog, well, why not? Just for doing a bit of writing, you can build a mailing list. It seems that every time I make a blog post, I get new subscribers join my list. It’s not hard to do at all, and it’s an ideal way to kick start your internet business.

So if that tickles your fancy, watch out for those. Again all those posts will be individually password protected as an incentive for people to join my mailing list.

It’s easy isn’t it this marketing lark? 😉

“Leave her alone, if it’s ‘not allowed’, there’s nothing she can do about it. She’s just an employee, and she’s ‘not allowed’ to make decisions.”

Frank, you missed a trick there. You should have sold her a course on becoming her own boss and giving good customer service.

You could have started with the marketing maxim that you have to find ‘hungry’ buyers and then serve them up what they’re looking for, not what you think they should buy……

🙂

Yummy! I love the ice cream shop in Henley, sounds like a grand day out. Did you pop down to the river in Stratford? Lovely on a nice sunny day.

Amin: Lol! I feel guilty now for saying it, but I just couldn’t help myself.

And you’re right, except she’d take a lot of work to shake off the mental shackles and start learning that the world is *really* quite different to how she thinks it is. You have to want to do it and I don’t think she’s ready.

“You can lead a horse to water…”

I look back now to the me about 5 years ago, and I was living in a fantasy world, just a day dream it seems now. It’s a shame it took me 40+ years to see it though.

Nathan: Ah, you know the shop I’m on about then? A little gold mine that place as long as it has customers. 😉

We were just out for a drive. My wife said let’s go get an ice cream and I knew where she meant so off we went.

I think the next time I go to Stratford I’ll go on the train as the sleepy little Birmingham to Stratford line runs past the bottom of our garden. Much more relaxing than driving there and then finding somewhere to park. 🙂

Sally:

In the summer I try not to let a single day go by without ice cream of some sort. It’s usually a choc ice, but I also have a taste for the pink (strawberry I guess) mini-milks. 😉

My eldest also likes choc ices, and the younger ones prefer jubblies, twin rocket lollies, and those FAB lollies with hundreds and thousands you used to be able to get when you were a kid but then disappeared for years.

Apparently you can get them again as there’s a box or two in our freezer.

Yum-yum.

Ice cream is on of my downfalls, I must take after my Dad as he too loves the stuff.
Both Chocolate and Bannana are my favorite flavors.
I’m looking forward to your install-a-blog videos. I installed a blog nearly a year ago, and for some reason it disappeared. Me thinks it was some plugin that did it. However I’ve forgotten how I installed the damn thing so I do need a refresher course.
I’ve just moved my one website to my current main web hosting, so I just have to wait for the DNS change.
But I shall only work on this when I’ve finished your project, review should be with you later today or tomorrow (Wednesday).
Take care.
