KeywordLuv

I’ve now added the KeywordLuv plugin to make your comment enjoyment much more satisfying.

What this means is you can now make a comment with a link to your web site, and also add your keywords to your name in this format:-

Frank Haywood@internet business

Your name will then appear as:-

Frank Haywood from internet business

Now is that cool or what?

If you run a WordPress blog (if not, WHY not?) I strongly suggest you go get this plugin and install it.

Why? Because it will encourage more people to make comments on your blog, and comments mean content, and we all love that don’t we?

You’ll also need to install a dofollow plugin too if you haven’t done so already, but you’ll find details of where to get one of those on the download page.

Remove The Fear Of Failure By Knowing Your Numbers

You know how some of the semi-religious self-improvement psycho babble you’ve read that you probably thought was junk?  It isn’t.

You need to re-program your mind to think in different ways if you want to have a profitable internet business.

The biggest downfall for many people is procrastination caused by the fear of failure as confirmed by the replies to yesterdays post.  (I already knew this – been there, got the t-shirt.)

To overcome the fear of failure, all you need to know are a couple of things.

Persistency and consistency are the keys.

If you create your first product and it flops, it doesn’t matter.

The learning you will have gained will have paid for the product creation time.

The next time you’ll do it better.  And you may even later rework the product that flopped into something else.  You should always look at re-using any material you create.

But as sure as anything, if you persist and consistently create new products every 4-6 weeks, some will do well.  Some will also flop but it doesn’t matter, because using the law of averages means you are getting closer and closer to a full time income.

So using the law of averages, eventually you may come up with something like 5-3-1.

For every 5 products you create, 3 will do well and 1 of those 3 will do very well.  Or it may be 3-2-1 or 7-4-2 or whatever – you’ll see the pattern emerge in time.

You can then work out your average income across them all and know that just by the sheer weight of numbers, you will be making n amount of dollars.  If your averages work across 5 products, divide the n by 5 to give you your dollar value per product.

Let’s say it’s $200 per month per product averaged out.

Pure logic now says that the FASTER you can put out new products, the more money you will make – guaranteed.  You CANNOT lose as each one will generate an average of $200 per month.

Now the fear of failure is irrelevant.

You will know FOR A FACT, that every time you create and release a new product it increases your monthly income by $200.

It doesn’t matter whether it flops or it does really well, the law of averages is on your side.  Every single product, averaged out, will increase your income by $200/month.

To begin with you won’t know your averages, and the only way of finding them will be to do something.  Which brings me back to taking action and not worrying about the failures.

All you have to do is pull your finger out, create that first product and start marketing it.  While you’re marketing it, start working on the next one.

It’s as simple as that.  The law of averages is your friend.

Okay then…  Now I’ve removed your fear of failure, what are you waiting for?

Survey Results Part 2 – Product Creation

Just a quick reminder – I did a survey in November 2007 and asked a few questions. Part of it was to rank certain areas in order of importance from 1 being most important to 8 being least important.

Rather than give you the results in the order I asked for them, I’m giving you them in what I believe you told me was the order of importance to you. Okay, I have a slight bias too…

So the first one was about list building and is at:-

This one is all about product creation. Here’s the result:-

As you can see, product creation is fairly important to many people, and from what I’ve been told by people outside the survey (maybe I should run another one to make sure) is that it’s something that a lot of people have a problem with.

Well, here on this blog I’ve shown that it’s possible to create a product in just a day. It’s also possible to create the product, put the sales page up, set up an autoresponder and send some traffic there in the same day. It’s hard work, but I know it can be done because I’ve done it.

So what is it that people find so hard about product creation?

You know what I think?

I think it’s because people have to actually sit down and do something.

I believe the thought to some people of actually creating something is enough to put them off. I believe that because I’ve thought that way too (and still do occasionally).

After all it’s a big deal creating a product isn’t it? You have to be really clever don’t you?

Only if you think so…

Nope, I don’t believe it, I believe the main things that hold you and me up is procrastination caused by the fear of failing. Yeah I get it too, but while it may slow me down from time to time, I don’t let it stop me.

When you stop to think about it, actually creating the product (whatever it is) isn’t that hard really is it? You just have to make the time to do it. But then once it’s done, you have to market it and sell it too, and I believe that’s the really big scary thing for most people.

What if it doesn’t sell? What if I can’t get any traffic? What if I can’t get any JV partners or affiliates? What if…

You can “what if” yourself out of anything, and I reckon this is why many people don’t actually go on to create any products at all.

Because once you’ve created the product, you have no excuse to do the other things that are related to it. And one of those might be where you fail.

Is that you?

I’ve said it before, there’s nothing stopping you from having a profitable internet business other than you.

To get past this it means you might have to go outside your comfort zone. Many successful people are no cleverer than you or me. In fact a lot of geniuses have died paupers, so intelligence has nothing to do with it.

All you have to do is believe you can be a success, decide what you’re going to do and then go for it. And the easiest thing to do is to create a product. Worry about the rest later if you must worry at all.

Do You Use Google Alerts?

Do you even know what a Google Alert is?

Well it’s a really useful little web application to tell you when a certain phrase is used on a web page that Google has indexed.  For instance, I have an alert set for “Frank Haywood”, and if anyone uses my name on a site I know about it within a few minutes.

You can set them up by clicking on Google Alerts.

It’s a very good web application to accompany and complement the tool I posted about the other day.

To go with these, in a few days time I’ll update my free keyword tool Keyword Inspector, and I’ll also shortly be releasing another nice little freebie that I think you’re going to like…
